Is it better to have an embroidered or heat-sealed badge? It depends on what you expect from the jersey — each technique has distinct advantages, and neither is automatically "the wrong one."
Embroidered Badge
The thread is sewn onto the fabric, creating a raised texture. It feels thick and is noticeable to the touch. It lasts for years without fading because there's no ink to peel off — the real risk is a thread coming loose with use. This is the technique for classic badges, and due to the machine work involved, it makes the garment more expensive.
Heat-Sealed Badge
The badge is applied with heat and pressure, integrating seamlessly with the fabric without any raised texture. This is what competition jerseys use today because it adds no weight or chafing during the game, and it reproduces fine detail with more definition than embroidery: gradients, thin lines, and small letters come out clean. Its weak point is heat, so never iron directly over the badge or put it in the dryer.
What about printed or sublimated badges?
This is ink applied to the fabric, with no raised texture and no separate layer. It's the most economical of the three techniques and the most sensitive to friction: it's widely used for customized numbers and training apparel.
What does your Velocity Savage jersey feature?
Almost our entire catalog features heat-sealed badges and logos. It's the same technique used for jerseys on the field today, and it's why the detail looks sharp instead of thickened.
The exceptions are embroidered: the Retro FPC Colombian football jerseys and the Deportivo Cali 2026 home jersey, where the raised badge is part of the piece.
If you're unsure which is best for you, the practical difference is simple: embroidery is felt, heat-sealing is seen. And in player version versus fan version, what changes is the cut and fabric, not the badge.
